Sketch Reveal at SOUS!

Welcome to my Blog today
 dear scrappy friends.

This post has been scheduled,
as I am winging my way back
 from a fabulous week
 in Los Angeles.

The great sketch from our Leah,
revealed today at
was just made for these
 papers and my photo's.

This coming Sunday is
Remembrance Sunday,
and Tuesday 11th November
 is Armistice Day.

On Tuesday, the last poppy
will be added to the stunning
"Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red"
Tribute at the
 Tower of London.
Which marks the
 100th Anniversary
of the outbreak of
World War One.

On Tuesday there will be
 888, 246 poppies
in the moat around the Tower!

Representing the
 British and Commonwealth
 lives lost in the war.

One of these ceramic poppies marks
 the life of my
 Great Grandfather,
Charles A Tedford.

He died on 26th April, 1915,
 at Ypres in Belgium.
He has no known grave,
but is honoured on the
 Menin Gate in Belgium.

On 16th October,
my Great Grandfather
was honoured at the
 Tower of London,
on that evening's
Roll of Honour.

I was there.

I made a 24 hour trip to
London to witness one of the
 most moving tributes
 I have ever seen.

The poppies are a spectacular,
 humbling sight.
I am so glad I was able to see it.

The tribute will be dismantled
 after Armistice Day, and
the poppies have all been sold,
 with proceeds going to
 appropriate charities.

I have bought one of the
 poppies, to honour my
 Great Grandfather.

To own a piece of this
 fabulous tribute will be
 an honour for me!

I have rotated the sketch
 clockwise, to accommodate
 the stunning poppies
 already on the paper.

The papers are from
 Kaiser
 "Remember Me"
 Collection.

With Collectables from the
 same collection.

And, a wee bit of black lace
 from my stash.

The papers and photo's are
all that are needed here.

Here are a couple more photo's
 from my 24 hr trip!

In honour of Charles A Tedford
1886 - 1915

Now, head on over to
 and see what my
 SOUS Sisters
have done with the sketch!

Then, we want to see
your interpretations.

So, please join in at SOUS!

See you there...

Hugs

SOUS Sketch Reveal

Welcome friends to this week's
 Sketch Reveal
 at

A very different style for me
using the latest sketch
 from our own
 Nanne!

Nanne's Sketch

The papers I have used are from
 Prima
 "Lyric"
collection.

Petaloo flowers
 "Dahlias".

Indigo Blu Stamp
"Honeycomb Background".

Lace trim from stash
 and tape measure tape
 from Typo
 (in Melbourne, AUS).

Photo was taken at the
 Grosvenor Hotel in London
 last September,
 where we had High Tea
 before going to see
 Thriller at the Lyric Theatre.

Happy with the page,
 though I'm not sure about
 all that white space....

Remember, that if you participate in
ANY of the challenges
over at the
 during the month of February,
you are in with a chance
to win this awesome
 prize from
who have the most gorgeous kits.

So, hoping to see you participate
in this challenge, and we will
 come and give you
some scrappy love.

Until then

Hugs

Whimsical Designs Blog Hop

Welcome! Welcome!
Welcome!

To the Whimsical Designs
"Give Thanks"
 Blog Hop!

The Hop runs from
 Friday 8th Nov 7pm EST
until
Sunday 10th Nov midnight EST.

For those of us in the UK
that means midnight on Friday 8th
 until 5am Monday 11th.
Confusing or what....lol

(And to make it even more confusing,
my Blog still thinks it lives in
 Perth, Western Australia!!!
So the time and date on the post will be
different again. I have tried to change it,
but whichever country you set it up
in is the country it stays in...lol)

You should have arrived here from
 Nanne's Blog.

If not, return to
 Whimsical Designs,
 where a complete list of
participating Blogs
 is given.

You don't want to miss any
 of the gorgeous projects
 on show.

I have created a layout for the Hop.

A recent photo of my gorgeous
 eldest Granddaughter
 from our recent trip
 to London

My background paper is from
 Webster's Designs
 "Nature's Storybook".

Title and date
Sassafras Lass
"Khaki Type"
Alphas.

The leaves are
 "Shabby Chic Autumn Leaves"
by
 Just Rite Stamps
on Vanilla
American Crafts cardstock.

And then some colouring fun with
 Distress Markers!
spiced marmalade
rusty hinge
shabby shutters
antique linen
scattered straw
crushed olive
tea dye.

I then painted a thin coating of
 KindyGlitz "Crystalina"
 over them and
 the frame.

The frame is from
Scrapmatts
 "Ornate Frames 11".

In the wee plastic bag
 is one of the leaves
 from the photograph.

And I have written the story
of the leaf on the back
 of the layout.

 A treasured moment with my
 Granddaughter!
 and read - quite cute!)

Your next stop on the Hop
 is the gorgeous
 Sheila.....

And, a final photo....

How stunning is this!!

Enjoy the Hop

Hugs

SOUS Sketch Reveal Day

Welcome everybody.

It's Sketch Reveal Day
 over at

The second sketch from
 our former co-leader
Sandi Clarkson.

My take on her
 wonderful sketch...

Sandi's Sketch...

This is the first layout
 (of many, I'm sure),
of my recent London trip
with daughter and
Granddaughter.

The papers I have used are
DCWV "Garden Party",
which were the perfect
 palette of colours for the
Buckingham Palace Garden Café,
and the title of the collection
 was so perfect too!

Loving the wee crown
 embedded in the
 pleated ribbon.

In a former life it was
 an earring!

Now, there was far too much
 white space on this sketch.
 I don't do white space
 too well. So I
 made it turquoise...lol.

And I did some masking too
 - about as mixed media as
 you're gonna get from me!

Not my style I'm afraid.
 But, I can handle this.

The masks are
 Tattered Angels Glimmer Screens
 "Fanciful"

Which I have spritzed with
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist
 "Bahama Blue"

The flowers have been in
 my possession for years!
 They are from a company
 called
 Crafty Horizons?

The brown pearl flourish
 is from Kaiser,
as are the long
 strips of pearls.

Certainly different.

Hope you like it.

Now, head over to the
for further inspiration from
 my fellow DT girls.

Hope you can find the
time to join us this time.

We love to visit your blogs
 and leave some scrappy love.

See you over at SOUS

Hugs for now
