Ellis Island - SOUS DT

Welcome dear scrappy friends.

My turn over at the
 to reveal my take on
 Leah's newest sketch.

Ellis Island, New York Harbor.

Another favourite photo from
 my recent US trip.

Leah's fabulous sketch.

I decided to go with one large
photo instead of the three on
the sketch. Though I did try
cutting the photo into three sections,
but it just didn't work with
 this photo. I wanted to
 keep it intact.

Lots of random stamping on the
 background paper, which is from
 the "Base Coat" collection
 from Kaiser.

Hinges from Tim Holtz
"Hardware Findings" die.

Embellishments from Kaiser
 "75 cents" collection.

Flowers from Petaloo.

I hope you will have time to join
us with this newest sketch over at

And, don't forget to visit the
 SOUS Blog daily for tons
 of inspiration from my
 SOUS Sisters.

Thanks for dropping in.

Be back soon

Hugs

Black With 2 March Mood Board Reveal

And so another month begins...

And we at
have a new reveal for you....

The March Mood Board...

The zingy colours this month are
 Lemon & Thyme.

The Inspiration Word is
 "Sunshine".

There is a fabulous sketch to follow.

All on a Black Background.

Here is my interpretation...

I have rotated the sketch for
 a landscape photo.

My papers are from
 Glitz
"Hoopla"
 collection.

The title is mounted onto
Tim Holtz
 "Tattered Banners"
 using Basic Grey
 "Origins"
 micro mono alpha.

The chipboard circles and stars
are from
 Collections Elements.

The large black circle
 was cut using
Spellbinders
"Grand Decorative Circles One".

The hot air balloon stamp
 is from
Kaiser
 "Up, Up and Away".

The chipboard palm trees
 are from
 Buzz & Bloom
"Arboretum Palm Trees".

Happy with final layout,
and so happy to finally get
 this photo of hubby
onto a page!

Photo was taken in 2002!

At King's Park, Perth, WA.

This month we have an extra incentive
for you to participate....

We have teamed up with the
 wonderful challenge site

Our March Challenge
 will subsequently run until
 15th April,
 that's an extra two weeks
 to participate - Happy Days!

The Scrapbooking Hut's
 Challenge
 begins on
 15th March
 and runs until
15th April.

But, the great twist is,
that it's the same challenge
 for both sites.

So, you only need to do
 1 layout
 to enter
 both challenges.

And, by entering at both sites,
 you double your chances
of winning a prize - too easy!

For more details make sure
 and head on over to
 and enter these two challenges
with just 1 layout.

Now, to other news from
 Black With 2.

We are having a DT Call.

All the details are over at the Blog.

We would love to see you apply.

We are a great team here at BW2.

Whimsical Designs Blog Hop

Welcome! Welcome!
Welcome!

To the Whimsical Designs
"Give Thanks"
 Blog Hop!

The Hop runs from
 Friday 8th Nov 7pm EST
until
Sunday 10th Nov midnight EST.

For those of us in the UK
that means midnight on Friday 8th
 until 5am Monday 11th.
Confusing or what....lol

(And to make it even more confusing,
my Blog still thinks it lives in
 Perth, Western Australia!!!
So the time and date on the post will be
different again. I have tried to change it,
but whichever country you set it up
in is the country it stays in...lol)

You should have arrived here from
 Nanne's Blog.

If not, return to
 Whimsical Designs,
 where a complete list of
participating Blogs
 is given.

You don't want to miss any
 of the gorgeous projects
 on show.

I have created a layout for the Hop.

A recent photo of my gorgeous
 eldest Granddaughter
 from our recent trip
 to London

My background paper is from
 Webster's Designs
 "Nature's Storybook".

Title and date
Sassafras Lass
"Khaki Type"
Alphas.

The leaves are
 "Shabby Chic Autumn Leaves"
by
 Just Rite Stamps
on Vanilla
American Crafts cardstock.

And then some colouring fun with
 Distress Markers!
spiced marmalade
rusty hinge
shabby shutters
antique linen
scattered straw
crushed olive
tea dye.

I then painted a thin coating of
 KindyGlitz "Crystalina"
 over them and
 the frame.

The frame is from
Scrapmatts
 "Ornate Frames 11".

In the wee plastic bag
 is one of the leaves
 from the photograph.

And I have written the story
of the leaf on the back
 of the layout.

 A treasured moment with my
 Granddaughter!
 and read - quite cute!)

Your next stop on the Hop
 is the gorgeous
 Sheila.....

And, a final photo....

How stunning is this!!

Enjoy the Hop

Black With 2 November Palette

First day of November....

Already????

New Palette Reveal
 at

How sumptuously rich are
 these colours!

Dominant Black
Coffee/Toffee Brown
Cherry Red
5% White

My take for this month includes
 a treasured photo of my
 Great Grandmother's younger sister
 and her husband
- taken a year after their marriage.

I only came into possession of
 this photo last year.

Our ancestors are all out there,
we just gotta find them
 - wish it was that
easy...lol

My black background has been
 punched with
 Martha Stewart's Deep Edge PATP
 "Spiral Arches",
 popped up onto another
 sheet of black
 American Crafts cardstock.
Love the subtle shadow effect it gives.

The background, distressed paper
 is from
 Daisy D's
 - a company that no longer exists!
Been in my stash for a
VERY LONG time.

Just goes to show,
 everything will get used
 - eventually!!!

The gorgeous flowers are from
 Zva Creative
 and the wee punched
 blooms are
 "Geneva Vine" die
 from
 Memory Box.

The title block and watches
 are from
 Bo Bunny's
"Timepiece"
Collection.

The outer clock (black)
and the hinges are
Tim Holtz dies
"Weathered Clock"
and
 "Hardware Findings".

The little red pearls and
 black lace are from
 Kaiser.

The photo mat is punched with
 Martha Stewart PATP
 "Deco Fans".

You must have a play with
this gorgeous palette,
such rich autumnal
 colours.

Can you resist?

Just remember to start with a
 black background.

*****

Now, to my card for this
month's palette.

Black cardstock from
American Crafts.

Pomegranate cardstock from
Bazzill.

The gorgeous die-cut corners
 are from
 Spellbinders
 "Filigree Corners"
 by
 Becca Feeken
 for
 Justrite.

Live your dreams is by
 Kaiser
 "Flora Delight"
 stamped onto a
"Fleur De Lis Rectangle"
 from
 Spellbinders.

The black oval frame is also
 Spellbinders
 "Floral Ovals"

The stunning image is from a
Dutch company called
 JeJe Produkt
 "Fantasy Fairies".

Pre-coloured.
Just the way I like them....lol.

I have cut up a second image
to do a wee bit of
 decoupage.

Red and black pearls from Kaiser.

Black organza ribbon,
stick pins, wee rose
from stash.

This was a beautiful
 colour palette
 to work with.

Can't wait to see what you all
 come up with.

See you over at

Hugs
