Spooky Book Box

Here it is....

I'm so excited to show you
 this project.

A Book Box!

Which I have made from scratch,
with chipboard and
 black cardstock.

I am so happy with the
 way it turned out.

The box measures 12" x 10"

The reason I had to make it from scratch!

I have always loved this sheet
of 12 x 12 paper, and
couldn't bear to cut it up,
or cover it.

 So this was
 the perfect solution!

The papers are
 My Mind's Eye
 "the Spider's Web"
Collection.

I have been hoarding them
 all these years for
 just this project...lol

The title "Spooky" alpha's
 have been painted black
 and sparkled with glitter.

The acetate clock and
 oval frame are from
 the Kaiser
 "13th Hour"
Collection.

And the sheet of paper wraps
 itself around the spine.

The back is pretty plain.

I just adore black gingham ribbon,
and it was the perfect choice
 for the closure!

So.....

What's inside?

My first attempt at an apothecary!

And my favourite part of the project
 - the GATES!

Cut on Cricut,
 from Ornamental Iron,
at 7.25",
using black cardstock.

 Then attached to
 patterned acetate from
 Collections Elements.

Stunning.

I added the wee shelf during
construction of the box,
 to house some
wee jars of 'stuff'.

I painted the lids of the jars
 with black acrylic paint
 and added some
different coloured glitters.

I painted the inside of the jars
with acrylic paint to match
 the glittered lids.

Wrapped a wee bit patterned paper
around the jar and added
the computer journalled
 labels.

A wee bit lace to the shelf edge
and some spiders web
wadding for effect!

A couple of little potion books
 to complete.

Some thinner black gingham ribbon
 to hold the gates closed.

And, behind the gates
- a Hallowe'en Mini Album,
 of course!!!

Hallowe'en photo's!

Here's the collection with a
couple of LED tealight candles
for effect.

Always wanted to try this...lol

Totally loved making this project,
and I am so delighted with
the GATES.

I can see me making more
 of these oversized
 Book Boxes.

It wasn't that difficult.

Santa Claus is coming.....

Oooooooh....

I would now like to enter
this project into a
 few challenges:-

OMGSH!!!! WOW, Jane, it's fabulous!
I can't thank you enough for helping me with the Cricut cutting problem - you are so kind to go into all that detail. I really need to take a class - I've been stumbling around trying to learn it by trial and error and clearly there is a better way! LOL But enough about me.

Your book is just incredible! There is so much detail! The little jars of scary things (a folder of ogre snot? Really!) And behind the gates, the most delightfully wicked album! What a fun treasure to pull out every year!!

Hugs!!
