 the wee ruffle...

Below is the journaling which I have
 hidden behind the largest photo,
giving a quick history of Horse Guards,
and the reason for the black mark at
2pm...

Tower of London

Continuing with the photo's from our recent
trip to London, daughter and I had
a great day at the Tower of London
- here with one of the Yeoman Warders -
Beefeaters.....

Larger photo shows the White Tower,
which gives the entire castle its name.
The White Tower is the original and
oldest part of the Tower of London.
Built in 1078 by William the Conquerer
as a royal residence and fortress,
it has also been a prison, a zoo,
a Royal Mint, a palace,
 and more memorably
a place of torture and death....

I have used sketch # 78 from

The sketch...

Using the "Portobello Road" collection
from Papermania....

punch around the page....

The Crown is Pink Paislee
"London Market" Ephemera....

The flowers are handmade from punches....

The leaves are Heartfelt Creations

About the Yeoman Warders
Since the foundations for the Tower were
laid in 1078, there have been men
appointed to guard the prisoners and attend the gates.
Today men still serve as keepers of security for
the Tower, they are called Yeoman Warders,
and originated during the reign of King Henry VII.
The Warders still wear the costumes of that period.
Today there are thirty-eight established
Yeoman Warder posts. They are recruited from the
Armed Services. These men are responsible
for the security of the Tower and its visitors.
They also conduct the guided tours.
All Yeoman Warders are required to
live on the grounds of the Tower with their families.
Each evening, after the gates are locked,
the Tower of London becomes a separate,
safe community for its permanent residents!!

Just thought you might like to know that.....

Til next time...
