Finally, I can show this very special project.....
I made this last month for a very special little girl
- our Goddaughter - Nicola-Rose....
She was baptised on Saturday, in Albany,
a coastal town south of Perth,
about a five and a half hour drive.
So we had a really nice long weekend away......
Nicola-Rose has two older sisters,
and when they were born I was a cross-stitcher.
(Scrapbooking wasn't a word in my vocabulary).
The older girls are now 9 and nearly 7.
I cross-stitched the older girls
birth samplers when they were born.
What to do this time, however.
I no longer cross-stitch, and I don't think
my eyes could take it even if I wanted to.....LOL
So, I'll scrapbook a birth sampler.....
I started with a store bought frame,
meant for multiple small photo's......
Whoa.....frame kinda takes over.....
So, painted it white, and happy with finished result.....
A few close-ups.....
and Deja Views 'Sharon Ann Baby Girl' paper....
Flowers and pearl flourish by Prima.....
Lace and ribbon from stash.....
'Modern Garland'....
Tags by Melissa Francis....
Butterfly Stamp by 7gypsies....
Little Crown by Dusty Attic....
Cricut from Heritage and Wall Decor carts....
Long Classic Scallop and
Large Rectangle Nestabilities....
Lace and ribbon from stash.....
Nicola-Rose with her Mum,
my oldest friend here in Australia.....
We are both nurses, and met when I
arrived in Australia, ten years ago,
just before her first daughter was born....
First daughter was then born on my
husband's birthday, 9th April,
making our relationship that wee bit more special.....
First daughter was subsequently
flower girl at our wedding in 2007.....
Second daughter was born on St Andrew's Day,
30th November. St Andrew is the
Patron Saint of Scotland,
double whammy - guess what
my husband's name is.... Andrew.....LOL
And then this little one comes along
a few years later and we were
given the honour of being her Godparents......
Mum and Dad in the middle, priest at the back,
and second Godparents to the right....

Jane this is gorgeous, so glad you put all the close ups, so many different elements to and all a beautiful as each other, I'm sure it was loved just as much as a cross stitched sampler. Looks like you had a great weekend. Can't wait to see your DT stuff.

Jane,
What a beautiful gift from the heart! I love it - and know she will treasure it forever!
I used to cross-stitch, too. I have only one or two items, all the others I gifted to others. Ooops, just remembered one that came back to me (after my Mom passed). So much love into those . . .
Your art is full of love, too! It's just taken on another outlet, that's all.
Hugs!
